About Mark…

I am a husband and father of three young kids. We chose to live in this neighborhood over seven years ago for its obvious charm, safe streets, and neighborhood vibe—and not a day goes by that we do not appreciate it.

I have lived in the District for nearly 20 years. In my “day job” I am an attorney in private practice at a law firm downtown. I focus on consumer financial services issues and maintain a pro bono practice including, most recently, assisting an Afghan national seeking asylum. I am active in the DC Bar as a member of the DC Affairs Community and served as a steering committee member (and chair) of the DC Bar Litigation Community. I am also an active leader in the American Bar Association Litigation Section.

As an advocate for DC statehood I have produced programs on statehood for both the DC Bar and the American Bar Association.

My commitment to public service can be traced back to my childhood in Indiana where my parents instilled a sense of public engagement from a young age. I graduated from Syracuse University and the University of Miami School of Law. My first job out of college was as deputy press secretary to Sen. Joe Biden. I have been active in Democratic Party politics off and on for almost 30 years including as a communications staff volunteer at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

As a lawyer, political observer, and active citizen, I have learned over many years that the trust of the people is the only metric that matters in picking and assessing our public leaders. As a candidate and your next ANC commissioner, I intend to earn your trust by being accessible, listening carefully, working hard, being honest, and exercising good judgment.
